April 2015
  • Congratulations to dual Biology/Art major Rachel Neal for showing her senior art collection of biological illustrations at the BA Studio Art and Visual Communication Design Senior Show
  • Congratulations to Biology professor Jenise Snyder for receiving an Ohio Water Association Public Education and Outreach grant.  The department was awarded $377 to support Biology student attendance at the Ohio Stormwater Conference.
  • Biology students Alexis Bradford, Erin Kezele, Katelyn Stewart, Bravina "Talia" Trovato, and Perisha Wallace presented their five research projects at the Ursuline College Student Research Symposium.  Congratulations to Erin and Katelyn who won the Core Connection award for their research project "Stream and Lake Water Quality Following Stream Restoration and Bioswale Construction"
  • Congratulations to Chemistry major Lyvia "Rae" Hallman-Taylor for receiving a 2015 Kirtlandia Research Internship through the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  Rae will spend her summer conducting Botanical research with museum curator Jim Bissell.
  • In support of Earth Day, Biology students Alexis Bradford, Erin Kezele, Katelyn Stewart, and Perisha Wallace attended Earth Fest 2015, where Perisha presented her research "The Greenest Water Bottle is the One you Already Own"
  • In support of Earth Day, Students of Science members Rachel Fogel, Adaobi Mgbodille, Rachel Neal, Perisha Wallace, and faculty advisors Mark Kyle and Jenise Snyder participated in the Doan Brook Stream Clean up, picking up trash and invasive garlic mustard along the watershed.

  • Congratulations to Biology major Margaret Janko for completing an accelerated Ecology field course at The Ohio State University Stone Lab this summer. She donated her invertebrate specimen collection from her research to Ursuline College.

  • Thanks to the Biology students and faculty to helping restore our campus stream vegetation.  More than 1000 trees and shrubs have been replanted to help stabilize the soils around our campus streams.  The volunteer project was covered in Ursuline's VOICES.

  • Congratulations to Biology major Sharita Hill has been awarded the 2014 Woodrow Wilson Ohio Teaching Fellowship.  Sharita will pursue her Master’s in Education at John Carroll University in the fall of 2014.  Sharita's comments on recieving this honor can been seen in Ursuline's VOICES.
