Ursuline College began producing a fine arts magazine in 1945. Every spring since then, the English Department, in conjunction with the Art Department, publishes Inscape
, an award-winning magazine featuring the writing and artwork of faculty, staff, and students of the College. Submissions, including essays, reviews, poems, short stories, photographs, and artwork, are evaluated by an editorial staff made up of students and supervised by a faculty member of the English Department. Literary pieces must be submitted in both hard copy form (English Department, Mullen 338) and electronically (firstname.lastname@example.org
). The dates for submission are October 1-December 1 of each year. Please give all artwork submissions to Rosaria Perna, O.S.U., M.F.A., in the Art Department (Fritzsche Center). For more information and to apply for a staff position, please contact Cynthia Glavac, O.S.U., Ph.D. at 440 646 8152 or email@example.com
The 2014 issue earned a First Class Award from the Associated Collegiate Press
. The judge said, "A powerful part of Inscape
relates to its long history of publication, as well as its tradition of including student, faculty, and staff literary and art pieces.”Inscape
will celebrate its 70th anniversary of publication this spring with a special program, coordinated by the English Department, Alumnae Office, and Marketing on April 29, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Pilla Atrium.
