Fun Facts

Dr. Mary Jo Cherry earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College in Erie, PA, a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction: Early Childhood Education from Kent State University. She has taught young children in day-care, pre-school and kindergarten, and elementary, and has been a college faculty member for many years. She currently serves as Director of the Undergraduate Education programs and as Co-Director of the Education Unit. She also coordinates the college's Assessment of Student Learning (ASL). Her teaching expertise lies primarily in the field of early childhood education.

Kathryn Tuohey, Ed.D.

Dr. Katie Tuohey is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Ursuline College. She received her doctorate in special education with a focus in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Nova Southeastern University.  She received her Master’s in Educational Administration from Cleveland State University and her B.A. from University of Dayton.  Her K-12 experience includes working with individuals with mild to severe  needs.  Dr.Tuohey has conducted in-service training in behavioral interventions for students with special needs, autism disorders, behavior intervention, functional behavior assessments and issues related to providing support and education for children in K-12 programs. Dr. Lisa B. Johnson earned a B.S. in Family/Child Development from Eastern Michigan University, a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from John Carroll University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration pre-school through 12th grade from Hampton University. She has taught young children in pre-school/kindergarten and has been a college faculty member for many years.
