Ursuline College Fashion Student Wins Heinen's Fine Foods Tote Bag Design Competition
Ursuline College Board of Trustee member Jeff Heinen looked toward Ursuline's fashion department for design expertise while developing his company's latest eco-friendly canvas grocery tote. The bags are being sold in all Heinen's Fine Foods stores during the month of February as part of the American Heart Association's National Heart month.
"We contacted Dr. Connie Korosec, Fashion Program Chair, to see if students would be interested in creating a new graphic design for our earth-friendly Heinen's tote and we were thrilled with the results," said Heinen.
More than 25 Ursuline fashion students submitted drawings. Sophomore Kristen Mascha's winning design included a colorful array of playful, hot pink and chocolate brown hearts and featured the theme "Women Have the Greatest Hearts."
"Designing a tote bag that centers on women's health issues was a perfect fit for our women's-focused institution," said Korosec. "And, it was a great opportunity for our students to participate in a real-life design exercise and an opportunity for them to showcase their talent to the Cleveland community."
Tote cost is $4.95. A portion of the proceeds will support the Cleveland Clinic's Women's Cardiovascular Center.
