The Cleveland Urban Teacher Residency Placement (CUTR) is an innovative partnership between Ursuline College and Breakthrough Charter Schools, a network of high performing, urban, public charter schools. This apprenticeship-based program of study is for individuals with a deep commitment to urban teaching. The Master Apprenticeship Program (MAP) immerses you in the classroom during the school year and allows you to take your foundational methods courses in the summer. At the conclusion of the year, you graduate with a Master of Arts in Education and are eligible for state licensure.

Features of the highly-selective, competitive program include:

• In one year, graduates will attain a Master’s Degree in Education through Ursuline's Master Apprenticeship Program (MAP) and an Ohio teaching license, while teaching at one of the highest performing urban public charter schools in Cleveland.
• All accepted resident candidates qualify for reduced tuition and Teach Grants.
• Students will spend four days per week in the classroom under guidance of a Breakthrough mentor teacher and one day per week at Ursuline in seminars and coursework.
• Breakthrough Charter Schools will be hiring dozens of teachers starting in 2012. There will be opportunities to be a part of the founding faculty within this growing network of urban school. Graduates will be carefully considered to fill those positions.
