Master of Arts in Education/PASE Curriculum


PASE programs are offered in a cohort model, in which a program is offered once a sufficient number of candidates for each strand is registered. Candidates in a cohort then move through the program together. Current programs include:

  • K-12 Reading with Endorsement (completed in two years)
  • Curriculum & Instruction (completed in two years)
  • Teacher Leadership with Endorsement (completed in two years)

Curriculum - K-12 Reading with Endorsement


The Master of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading prepares currently licensed teachers with an endorsement in Reading and advanced curriculum studies in reading. Students experience a series of advanced courses in education and pedagogy as well as the 15-hour reading specialization. The program includes a culminating project, which requires students to write a proposal in the educational action research course in preparation for their final action research project in reading. The reading program area culminates in a 30 credit hour master's degree.

Curriculum - Curriculum & Instruction


The Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in C&I deepens the understanding of currently licensed teachers in matters of curriculum, instructional methodologies, student learning, professional development and the relationship among them. Students in the program will have several opportunities to connect theory and practice as they work through the coursework. Students begin with three PASE core courses, which lay the foundation for advanced study in C&I. The program ends with a culminating project, which requires students to write a proposal in the educational action research course in preparation for their final action research project in curriculum and instruction. The C&I program area culminates in a 30 credit hour master's degree.
