2010-2011 Academic Year

 

Presentations

1.    Roseanne Casal gave the poster presentation Complementary therapy for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting at the Joanna Briggs Institute 7th Biennial International Colloquium in Chicago, Illinois in September of 2010.

 

Awards and Scholarships

1.    Three Ursuline College nursing students were recognized at the Cleveland Council of Black Nurses luncheon in June 2010:  Tanesha Goosby and Tracy Booker received achievement awards, and Charles Ondobo received the first Gladys Moon scholarship of $1,000.

 

2.    Jasmine Jennings was recognized as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarship recipient and received a $600 Cheerios Brand Health Initiative Scholarship and a $2,733 Cheerios Brand Health Education Scholarship.

 

3.    NCIN Scholarship Recipients:  Accelerated, second degree BSN students receiving the Robert Wood Johnson/American Association of Colleges of Nursing “New Careers in Nursing” (NCIN) scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year are:

1.    Marla Sustin presented Melanoma. Advanced Practice Continuing Education Nursing at Wade Park Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio in March 2010.

2.    MSN Nursing Student, Laura Goliat, BSN, RN, presented a poster exhibit entitled “From Minority to Majority: Meeting the Healthcare Needs of a Rising Hispanic Population,” at the 19th Annual Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses’ Statewide Educational Conference, October 29, 2009, Dublin, Ohio.

  

3.    Senior BSN Nursing Student, Kimberly Mackey, and Faculty Member, George S. Matejka, PhD, Chair, Philosophy Department, Ursuline College, presented “Two Roles for Animals in the Hospice Care Program:  Pets and Pet Therapy Effective for Hospice Care,” at the 13th Annual Hospice Institute Fall Conference, “Telling the Stories:  The Deeper Voice of Hospice,” September 11, 2009, Cleveland, Ohio.

 

 

Awards and Scholarships

1.    Kiesha Simon, Accelerated BSN student in the January 2010 cohort, received a two-year ROTC scholarship valued at $60,000.
