BSN Degree

Honored past, Dedicated present, Brilliant future.

Welcome to the Breen School of Nursing’s (BSON) undergraduate program. We are proud to offer a variety of pathways to becoming a nurse. No matter which path you choose, The Breen School of Nursing provides a holistic, values-based education in the Catholic tradition that prepares our graduates to provide relationship-based care that engages the patient and family. Our graduates achieve safe, high quality outcomes. Small class sizes facilitate the development of mentoring relationships between faculty and students. The BSON faculty possess a seasoned combination of academic expertise and current clinical practice that facilitates the student’s transference of classroom knowledge to clinical application.

The BSN program has secured strong collaborative relationships with our practice partners that result in excellent clinical experiences in a variety of settings from critical care to pediatric care. Our innovative active learning strategies build strong clinical thinking and leadership skills that are vital in preparing nurses to deliver safe high quality care in a rapidly changing complex health care environment. Our commitment to our student’s transformative journey is evident in both our high NCLEX pass rates and job placement statistics among Cleveland’s top hospitals. In fact, many Ursuline graduates are in leadership and executive positions in Northeast Ohio.

The traditional BSN program is designed for students pursuing their first baccalaureate degree.  New this year, in collaboration with the Cleveland Foundation, the Breen School of Nursing is excited to announce the STTEP-UP Program (Scholastic Tools & Teams for Educational Performance-Ursuline Pre-nursing Program). The STTEP-UP Program is designed to assist pre- nursing students in their transition into the traditional BSN program through academic, social and financial support.

The accelerated BSN program is for the student who has previously earned a bachelor’s degree in another field and desires to become a nurse. The accelerated BSN program enrolls students into cohorts beginning each January, May and August.

The RN-BSN program is a fully on-line program geared toward the Registered Nurse who wishes to complete their BSN.

The Breen School of Nursing also offers an Honors program designed to engage students in mentorship with a dedicated faculty member that will assist the student to complete a program of community service, professional organization participation, application of evidenced-based practice, leadership development, and the cultivation of research and scholarly presentation skills.

Nursing is a profession unlike any other; personally gratifying with endless possibilities for professional growth while making a difference each day in improving the health of the lives we touch. We invite you to explore our programs, visit our campus, and meet our faculty. We look forward to the opportunity to partner with you in your transformative journey into becoming a nurse.
