How does it feel to be a healthcare provider, on the other side of the bed? In her talk, Making the Heart W(hole) Again, Dr. Janet Baker shares her unique story of finding a congenital cardiac defect later in life as well as personal insights and experiences as a healthcare provider from a patient perspective.
What do you do after you’ve experienced sudden cardiac death? Mrs. Christi Nelson, survivor of sudden cardiac death advocates for best practices in basic cardiac life support throughout the community and has accomplished amazing things by sharing her journey through support groups and community collaboration.
The Student Nurses of Ursuline College (SNUC) is honored to have these two amazing speakers during a special fund-raising event, supporting women’s cardiovascular health through the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign.
SNUC Recent Events:
Officers of Student Nurses of Ursuline College (SNUC) recently represented The Breen School of Nursing at the National Student Nurses Association’s 34th Annual Mid-year Convention in Kansas City, Missouri in November 2016. Among other activities, the students were able to participate in NCLEX review and career planning sessions. The three students who attended are pictured from left to right: Mary Ann Podlogar (senior, second degree accelerated BSN and founder/chairperson of a peer-mentoring program within SNUC), Natalie Garmon (senior, traditional BSN and 2016-17 Vice-President of SNUC), and Jacquelyn Elrod (senior, traditional BSN and 2016-17 President of SNUC).
Members of the Student Nurses of Ursuline College (SNUC) recently represented The Breen School of Nursing
at the Ohio Student Nurses Association’s Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio, in October 2016. The students competed in an NCLEX review “Brain Bowl” challenge with nursing students from other colleges/universities throughout the state. The students who attended the convention include Christina Campbell (senior-traditional BSN), Awa Dia (senior-traditional BSN), Natalie Garmon (senior-traditional BSN), Kelly Kuppler (senior-second degree accelerated BSN), and Claudia Shipman (senior-traditional BSN).
