Arrows begin final week of regular season with victory over Malone

CANTON, OHIO - The Ursuline College women's basketball team (6-22, 2-15) began its final week of action with a 73-63 victory over Malone University on Thursday night.
Brittany Nair (Valley City, Ohio/Chicago State), who recently established a new school record for most points in a single-season, continued her record-setting season, scoring a game-high, and a season-high, 28 points in the Arrows American Mideast Conference victory.
Entering the contest, Nair ranked 11th in the nation in total points scored. She now has 510 points on the season, and an average of 18.2 points per game, which would also establish a new record for points per game in a single-season, surpassing the current record of 16.4 points per game set last season by Whitney Blackburn.
Nair has scored in double-figures in 24 of her 27 games played this season, including 14-straight. She has also scored 20 or more points 15 times this season and in six of her last seven games.
Laura Campbell (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) and
Chelsea Ciptak (Akron, Ohio/Urbana) joined Nair in double-figures with 16 points each. For Campbell, it is her 21th game this season scoring in double-figures, while setting a season-high in scoring for Ciptak.
Ciptak also recorded a game-high 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
The Arrows dominated the first-half, holding a 40-28 lead at halftime as they shot over 53% from the field over the first 20 minutes. Ursuline continued its solid shooting performance, shooting 50% in the second half as well. Overall, the Arrows shot 27-52 from the field and 14-16 from the free throw line.
Ursuline College will close out its regular-season schedule with back-to-back home games. On Thursday night, February 18th, the Arrows will make up last week's postponed game against #3 Cedarville at 6:00 p.m. Then they will close out the season against Carlow on Saturday, February 20th at 2:00 p.m.
