Arrows close out season with loss to Carlow

February 20, 2010

PEPPER PIKE, OHIO - The Ursuline College women's basketball team (6-24, 2-17) closed out its 2009-10 regular-season with a loss to Carlow University (7-21, 3-15) on Saturday afternoon, 76-51. The Arrows honored seniors Ashlie Hargrove (Cleveland, Ohio/Trinity) and Krysti Tietze (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) prior to the game as they each played in their final game at Ursuline.

Brittany Nair (Valley City, Ohio/Chicago State), who concludes the season with three new singl-season records, scored a team-high 19 points. She finishes the season with 546 points, which tops the previous record of 459 points scored by Whitney Blackburn last season. Her 18.2 points per game average surpasses the previous record of 16.4, also held by Blackburn. Finally, Nair totaled 187 field goals made this season, which passes the previous mark of 164 shots made by Diona Graham (2007-08).

Nair also chipped in a team-high nine rebounds, while Tietze was strong defensively with three steals and six rebounds.

Laura Campbell (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) and Hargrove also scored in double-figures, totaling 14 and 11 points respectively. Campbell finishes the season with a 12.8 points per game average, which stands ninth on the single-season scoring average list.

Carlow received 22 points, including six three-pointers, from Shelby Rodgers, 16 points from Lauren Roscoe, 13 from Danielle Lindsey, and 11 points from Sarah McAteer. Lindsey also led the game with 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.

Ursuline College graduates two players off of a roster that had only four returning players to start with. Now with a year under their belt, the Arrows will look to replace Hargrove and Tietze, and begin the climb back toward the top of the AMC standings.
