Dingman Runs at NAIA National Championships
November 21, 2009
Ursuline College cross country runner, junior
Jessica Dingman (Chardon, Ohio/Berkshire), finished 74th overall at the NAIA National Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday afternoon.
A Scholar-Athlete (NAIA/Daktronics) and American Mideast Conference second team selection, Dingman ran a time of 19:37, the exact same time she ran at the AMC Championships. The 74th place finish ties for the programs third best individual finish at the NAIA Championships. However, Dingman's time is the only time to break the 20 minute mark at both the AMC and the NAIA Championships in Ursuline Cross Country history.
Dingman, who qualified by placing in the top seven individuals that were not on a qualifying team in the AMC Championships, made her second National Championship appearance in cross country and her fourth overall appearance after qualifying in 2008 for both indoor and outdoor track.
At the AMC Championships, Dingman completed the 5k race that featured 121 runners, in 19:37 for her 14th place finish. Her overall finish at the AMC Championships was the highest finish ever by an Ursuline cross country athlete, which was the case for her All-Conference second team selection.
