In game one, Seaman earned her first win of the season with a complete game shutout. She struck out three, walked one and allowed eight hits over the seven shutout innings.
Offensively, Hillary Beachy (Warren, Ohio/Champion) went 2-3 with two runs batted in, while Lauren Grana (Holland, Ohio/St. Ursula) went 1-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
In game two, Cedarville got things going early with four runs in the top of the first off of Seaman, including a two-run home run by Melissa Murphy.
After extending the lead to 5-0 with a run in the second, Ursuline finally posted some runs in the fourth. The Arrows cut the lead to 5-3 with four hits, including a two-run single by Miranda Boggs (Madison, Ohio/Madison).
However, Cedarville answered with three more runs in its next at-bat, pushing the score to 8-3. Cedarville was just able to hold onto the lead, as Ursuline scored five in their last at-bat and had the game-tying runner at second. However, pitcher Jillian French was able to hold the lead as she struck out 10 batters in game two. French also closed out game one after the Yellow Jackets fell behind, and struck out nine hitters over four innings.
Ursuline will return to action next week with a pair of weekday AMC road doubleheaders against Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 14 and Mt. Vernon on Friday, April 16. The Arrows will first host a doubleheader against Lorain CC on Monday, April 12, making up for a previous rainout.
