Arrows Sign Maranacook Senior Sarah Maxwell
March 23, 2010
The Ursuline College Softball program would like to announce that Sarah Maxwell has signed her Letter of Intent to play softball for the Arrows. She comes to Pepper Pike, Ohio from Maranacook High School in Readfield, Maine.
Maxwell, who can both pitch and play at first base, enters her senior season at Maranacook as one of the region top players. She was a first-team All-Conference selection as a freshman, sophomore and junior, and Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Player of the Year over the last two seasons.
?We're thrilled to sign Sarah Maxwell,? said Head Coach Sue Woodford. ?We expect her to have a strong impact on our program as a freshman. She has the competitive drive and the work ethic to help take us to the top of our conference. We're expecting big things out of Sarah in the future and are looking forward to seeing her compete in the Gold and Blue of Ursuline College."
Last season, as a junior she won more games (18), struck out more batters (240), posted a lower earned-run average (0.65) and hit for a higher batting average (.506) than she did as a sophomore. Her strikeout-to-walk ratio was a cool 10-to-1.
She also has been recognized by the Kennebec Journal as a first-team selection as a sophomore and junior. She was a Portland Telegram Honorable Mention on the All-State team following her sophomore season.
Kennebec Journal about Sarah Maxwell:
?An all-around player that still has a year to grow into her game. For the two-time reigning Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B MVP -- a pitcher already throwing in the low-60s and clubbing the ball at a .500 clip -- that's a frightening proposition.?
