Susan Woodford - Head Softball Coach

Susan Woodford begins her sixth season as Ursuline College's head softball coach. Woodford's teams have been competitive in the American Mideast Conference making the playoffs three times, advancing to the Regional tournament once, and being named the number one statistical defensive team in the NAIA.

Woodford, who is best known for developing programs, arrived at Ursuline following successful stints at both the high school and college levels. Her teams play an aggressive style of softball as evidenced by holding the North Coast Athletic Conference stolen base record. She has been certified as an umpire and official in the Tidewater Virginia area and also taught pitching and hitting for the "Strike Zone Professional Baseball/Softball School" along with former pro players Gary LaVelle and the late Towny Townsend.

She has been an instructor, speaker, and coordinator at various camps and clinics throughout the country teaching the basics of pitching, hitting and coaching as well as character development and leadership. She is a certified Physical Fitness Specialist and a Team Challenge Training Instructor.

Coach Woodford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University and a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.


Mike Pucella

Mike Pucella - Assistant Softball Coach


Mike Pucella returns to Ursuline for his fourth year as Assistant Coach with primary responsibilities as the pitching and dugout coach. Mike has previously coached at the college, high school, international and travel ball levels. He coached with the Italian National Team, has been active in the recruitment and development of athletes for the ASA Junior Olympics and is a noted pitching and hitting coach in the local area. In addition to coaching, Mike is an umpire and is on the NFCA rules committee.

Coach Pucella holds degrees in Engineering and Technology (Ohio Valley College) and Religious Education (St. Vincent College).


Amy Hair

Amy Hair - Assistant Coach


Amy Hair joins the coaching staff for the 2010-2011 athletic year as an assistant coach in charge of catchers and first base. She attended Kent State University (2007-2010), where she earned a degree in communication studies with a focus in organizational communication. Hair was a four-year letter winner for the Kent State softball team. 

She was a catcher for three years and moved to first base during her senior season. During her time at Kent, the team took the Mid-American Conference Championship title all four years. In 2008, the Golden Flashes placed second at the Regional Tournament. Her expertise in softball and leadership skills gained from work at a summer camp will be an asset to the softball team as they work towards a successful season.
