Ursuline Track & Field performs well in first outdoor meet of the season

CALIFORNIA, Penn. - The Ursuline College Track & Field team competed in its first Outdoor meet of the 2010 season, at the Cal U Early Bird Meet on Saturday afternoon. The Arrows set three school records and had two individual event champions, both of which were freshman.
Lesley Wyatt (Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield HS) won the long jump with a distance of 4.82m (15?9.75?) and
Nicole Genske (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon HS) won the shot put with a distance of 11.62m (38?1.5?).
Jessica Dingman (Chardon, Ohio/Berkshire HS) established a new outdoor record in the 1500m run with a time of 5:10.68, topping her own previous record of 5:11.74.
Kaite Brobst (Medina, Ohio/Highland HS) finished just a fraction of a second ahead of the old school record in the 3000m run. Her time of 11:56.22 just beat out
Erica Casto's (Madison, Ohio/Madison HS) time of 11:56.58.
Lauren Hollis (Mt. Vernon, Ohio/Mt. Vernon) claimed the third spot in the hammer throw with a distance of 30.5m (100?1?), passing teammate
Holley Mangold?s (Centerville, Ohio/Arch Bishop Alter HS) old record of 30.45m (99?11?).
Halle Barrat (Solon, Ohio/Solon HS/BGSU) set the school record in the pole vault with a height of 2.60m (8?6.25?). Barrat is the first athlete to compete and register an official score at Ursuline in the pole vault.
?Overall it was a very good performance for our team this early in the season,? said Head Coach Steve Smalley. ?I am very optimistic on what this could mean for the rest of the season.?
