Ursuline Track & Field prepares for AMC Championships

PEPPER PIKE, OHIO - The Ursuline College Track & Field Program will take part in the American Mideast Conference Outdoor Championships this weekend at Walsh University. Coming off a meet in which the 4x100 relay team qualified for the NAIA National Championships and the team set four new school records, the Arrows will look to claim the top spot.
The 4x100 relay team of
Tanisha Williams (Springfield, Ohio/Troy),
Lauren Hollis (Mt. Vernon, Ohio/Mt. Vernon),
Jaimie Grindle (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), and
Annie Grindle (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships with their second place finish and time of 49.26.
Erica Casto (Madison, Ohio/Madison) set a new record in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, topping her own record with an impressive time of 12:44.45.
Jaimie Grindle, a member of the 4x100 relay team, also established two new records over the weekend. First she ran the 200m sprint in 26.67 seconds, and then set another record in the 400m sprint with a time of 58.43 seconds.
Kianna Coggins (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) put her name in the record books with a throw of 40.13 meters (131'8") in the Hammer event.
Last season, the Arrows had two individual event champions at the AMC Championships as the team finished fifth overall. Holley Mangold won in Shot Put and Andrea Murray took the conference title in Discuss.
Ursuline will take part in the AMC Outdoor Championships this weekend at Walsh (April 16-17), and then will compete in four more meets prior to the NAIA National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University on May 27-29, 2010.
