PEPPER PIKE, OHIO - The Ursuline College Track & Field program has announced the signing of Kent State University transfer Melissa Zupec, who will join the Arrows in the fall of 2010.
A two-sport athlete at Mentor High School in track and gymnastics, Zupec spent one year at Kent State University.
At Mentor High School, Zupec received the Most Outstanding Freshman award in 2006, the Most Outstanding Sprinter award in 2008 and 2009, while being named captain in her senior season.
As a gymnast, she received the Sportsmanship Award in 2007 and was a team captain in 2008 and 2009. She also received the Dean Nicholas Citizenship Award for both her attitude and sportsmanship in both gymnastics and track in high school.
Academically, Zupec graduated from Mentor with Honors and Summa Cum Laude. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Future Leaders Club, and Peer Facilitators. She also participated in Relay for Life throughout High School.
