PEPPER PIKE, OHIO - On Sunday, the Ursuline College Athletic Department held its annual Year-End Athletic Banquet, which honors the accomplishments of each athletic program and all of the individual student-athletes. At the conclusion of the banquet, the highest of honors is awarded to one student-athlete. The winner of the 2010 Champions of Character Award was senior Ally Tagliarina of the soccer program.
The Champions of Character Award is given to a junior or senior that has best demonstrated the five core character values. The values of Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship are taken very seriously within the Ursuline Athletic Department and make up the foundation of the Arrows Athletic Vision.
Ally Tagliarina was a four-year member of the soccer program. Her dedication to the program was second-to-none. When she arrived at Ursuline, the team was coming off a 5 win season. In fact, in her first two seasons at Ursuline the team won just 11 games.
After three hard years of work, Ally's hard work paid off as the team went 9-7-2, including a 6-0 start to the season. The team recorded the most wins in program history, its first winning season, and most points recorded in program history.
Unfortunately for Ally, an injury ended her season and collegiate career early. However, that did not slow her effort or support of her teammates.
Off the field, Ally was even more successful as a two-time scholar-athlete in the American Mideast Conference. She will graduate this spring and has accepted a Graduate Position at the University of Houston where she will attend Graduate School.
