Six Ursuline Softball players named to All-Conference Teams

May 17, 2010

PEPPER PIKE, OHIO - The Ursuline College Softball team earned six All-Conference awards following the 2010 season. Led by freshman Ciara Seymour's All-American Mideast Conference Second Team honors as a utility player, the Arrows claimed five more spots on the Honorable Mention team.

Hillary Beachy, Miranda Boggs, Britney Mascia, Kristen Roznoski, and Melissa Ruminski all received All-AMC Honorable Mentions.

Seymour led the team in wins, strikeouts and earned run average as the teams number one pitcher in 2010. She also was one of the teams top hitting performers as well, which was the driving force behind her selection to the All-AMC Second Team as a Utility Player.

Seymour made 21 starts on the mound, pitching 13 complete games, and winning a team-high nine ballgames. She threw 146.2 innings, out of the teams 268 total innings. She recorded 89 strikeouts, while walking just 26 batters. At the plate, Seymour was second on the team with a .342 batting average. She led the team with 15 extra-base hits, 15 doubles, and 25 runs batted in.

Beachy led the team with a .355 batting average and a .984 fielding percentage. She was tied for the team lead in hits (44), while finishing second with 17 RBI, and third with 17 runs scored. She finished her career with All-Conference honors in each season.

Boggs hit .277 on the year, while scoring 20 runs and driving in 13. She played great defensively in centerfield recording 54 putouts and 4 assists. She was also 8-10 on stolen base attempts.

Mascia, who started all 41 games behind the plate, hit .261 on the season with three doubles and a team-high five triples. She scored 12 times and drove in 12 runners. Defensively, she threw out an impressive 18 of 50 runners attempting to steal second base.

Roznoski led the team with 32 stolen bases and 25 runs scored. She was also tied for the lead with 44 hits. Her .321 batting average was third on the team, her 107 assists ranked first defensively.

Ruminski hit .252 on the season, scoring 11 runs and driving in 12 base runners. She had one triple, six walks and five sacrifice hits on the season.
