Crime Prevention and Personal Safety Information

As in any community, the prevention of crime is everyone's responsibility, not just Campus Security. We, as residents of Ursuline College's campus community, must accept responsibility for our personal safety and the safety of others. The following information will help prevent campus crime as we work together

If an emergency occurs on campus, of either a medical or security nature (dealing with destruction of College property, buildings, intruders, etc.), students should call 911 (no money is needed at a pay phone to dial 911), and then call the Campus Security Office (x4204).

All emergencies will be reported to the appropriate Vice President and will be investigated. For your safety and convenience, seven outdoor telephones are located throughout the campus. The phone will connect directly to Campus Security (x4204).

Educational programs and activities concerning safety and crime prevention are sponsored throughout the year. Educational videos on personal safety are available in the Wellness Office for individual or group use.

For information on those individuals who have self-identified with the county sheriff as having registered as a sexual offender/predator that may have an affiliation with the institution, please refer to http://www.familywatchdog.us/Showlist.asp.

The City of Pepper Pike has several sources of information regarding emergencies within the community or impacting the community from the surrounding area.
  1. The City has a reverse 911 system that will telephone residents and businesses within the City when there is an emergency. The College has six telephone numbers that have been programmed into the system including the Mullen Reception Desk, Besse Circulation desk, Resident Assistant cellular telephone, Security, and two cellular telephones managed by the Facilities Department.
  2. The City maintains radio station AM 1670 for broadcasting information regarding emergencies. This radio station provides a signal within a 5 mile radius of the City of Pepper Pike City Hall, located on Shaker Boulevard.
Please note that the City of Pepper Pike does not currently have a siren system. In the event of an emergency, Security and Facilities will make a determination on the method of notification for the campus. Notification may be by voice-mail, e-mail, or by direct contact from Security and/or Facilities.
