Circulation Privileges and Responsibilities

Privileges

Most books and some media in our library circulate to Ursuline College Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, Friends of the Library, Sisters in the Ursuline Community, and Board members. Anyone holding a card from another OhioLINK library, including the Cuyahoga County Public Library, may also borrow materials. Some items do not circulate at all. The number of books that may be borrowed and the length of time they may be kept vary with material and patron categories. Most print items may be renewed online or by calling the library Circulation Desk.

Faculty, Staff, and Students may also borrow materials from the statewide OhioLINK network. These books must be requested by the patron and arrive at Ursuline within three to five weekdays. They may be renewed online.

Book drops are available for returning material when the library is closed.

Responsibilities

All Ursuline College library patrons must present an Ursuline ID and register in the library before borrowing materials or accessing online circulation and OhioLINK features. Accounts must be updated in the fall and summer of each year. ID's may be registered or updated with the library by using the online form or by calling 440-449-4202. Patrons from OhioLINK libraries must have their ID's with them to borrow materials.

Items checked out on a patron's ID are his/her responsibility. Treat your ID like a credit card. Don't share it.

Although we try to send e-mail courtesy notices to remind patrons of upcoming due dates, it is the borrower's responsibility to keep track of when material is due.

Lost and Overdue Material

Fines vary with the type of material borrowed. OhioLINK charges $.50 a day for overdue material for the first 30 days and $50 thereafter. These charges apply to all borrowers, including faculty. Fines accumulate quickly and cannot be waived. If an item is lost or you are confronted with an emergency, please notify the Circulation Desk immediately to stop fines from accruing.

Patrons with seriously overdue materials or large outstanding fines will have their library accounts and class registration blocked.

Lost materials are billed at the replacement cost plus a processing fee. Lost OhioLINK materials are billed at $125.
