Committee Descriptions

Academic Affairs
The Academic Affairs Committee bears the primary responsibility for defining, overseeing and modifying the policies that fulfill the institution's academic mission, including what students learn and how they learn it the effectiveness of teaching and learning faculty selection, recognition, and development how to assess and reward teaching excellence efficient and sensible organization of departments, divisions, and colleges within larger institutions academic standards and requirements and the appropriate balance among teaching, scholarship, and service, among many other elements. Building and Grounds
The primary responsibility of the Buildings and Grounds Committee is the oversight of Ursuline College's physical plant, including building and grounds. Functions include: examine major spending initiatives related to capital repairs and renovations, advise on the priorities and decision making concerning major repairs or new construction.

Development
The Development Committee is responsible for providing oversight and policies for fund raising, marketing and constituency relations programs which support the mission and strategy of the College. The Committee is also responsible for ensuring the appropriate participation of every Trustee in these programs.

Finance
The Finance Administration Committee is responsible for policy direction and oversight of financial operations on behalf of the entire Board. Functions include: monitor and review financial operations, review capital expenditures, review annual audited financial statements

Investment
The Investment Committee supports the educational mission of Ursuline College by providing stewardship of endowment assets, growing those assets, and providing operating funds to the College. Functions include: establish investment policy and monitor compliance with the policy, evaluate and select investment managers and recommend initial investment levels for each manager

Student Services
The Student Services Committee ensures that students concerns, view points and needs are considered in major decision making in the College. Functions include: provide guidance and counsel to assure a high quality of student life which assists students in their total development-academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, occupationally and physically, understand what student life programs are provided by the College, and where necessary make recommendations to the Board of Trustees to ensure that adequate financial resources are provided to support a comprehensive student life program, in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Committee, assess the student's academic experience.

Trusteeship
To develop, maintain and evaluate a Board that is committed to the furtherance of the Ursuline College Mission. Functions include: identify candidates for the Board consistent with required Board composition, including diversity, expertise, community influence and financial support establish Board Member performance standards and evaluate Board member performance, enhance the visibility of the College through the cultivation of an extensive list of high quality prospective Board Members.
