Program for Academic Success
Ursuline College offers a targeted academic program designed to help you succeed in reaching your professional and personal goals - regardless of your past experience in the traditional classroom environment. Ursuline's Program for Academic Success (PAS) encourages you to take advantage of special services that will help you achieve success in the classroom, in the workplace, and beyond.
Whether you want to earn your degree, or take college courses for personal enrichment, PAS can help develop skills in critical academic disciplines, through core courses and personal guidance. Is PAS right for me?
If you have been away from the classroom for a number of years or didn't take college prep courses in high school, it may be beneficial for you to strengthen some of your basic academic skills. PAS is designed to help you do just that. Key areas of focus include math, science, reading, writing and study skills. Will I be required to participate in PAS?
Students who have been out of school for a number of years meet with an advisor and select the appropriate courses.
The following criteria may be useful in making the selection:
- Missing college preparatory courses in high school
- High School or college GPA below 2.5
- Multiple withdrawals and repeated courses from other colleges
- Personal experience and strengths
- Ursuline College assessment scores
- An ACT score between 14 and 17 or an SAT score combined between 690 and 870
Will I earn credit for PAS courses?
You will receive college credit for those 100-level classes that you pass. Some classes will count toward elective credit; others may fulfill your major and/or core curriculum requirements.
Will I be able to complete my degree in 4 years if I participate in PAS?
Women return to school either as part-time or full-time students. Depending on your major, you may be able to complete your degree in four years by going full-time and taking classes in the summer or accelerating your academic program as an upperclassman. Nursing majors will need five years to complete the BSN degree.
