College Credit & Scholarship for High School Students
The Ursuline College School of Arts and Sciences invites high school students in the class of 2010 to start earning college credit this summer and receive a $375 scholarship toward your college expenses. The scholarship check will be mailed to the college. If you are interested in a career in chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, engineering or other science-related fields, we hope you will be a part of this exciting program at Ursuline.
As a program participant you will:
The program will start with an intense two week session, Monday-Thursday, July 13-16 & 20-23 from 9:00-4:00 on the Ursuline campus. Students will maintain distance contact with the course and a mentor in the fall of 2009, will come to Ursuline on January 23, 2010 from 9:00-2:00 and will maintain periodic distance contact with the program through their first year at college.
Transportation is available from central locations in Cleveland.
To apply for the program, complete the application form and a 250 word essay on why you would like to participate in this program. You are encouraged to have your teacher complete the optional recommendation form. A $25 deposit, which will be returned to students in July with successful participation in the summer session, is payable upon acceptance.
This program focuses on students who are the first in their family to attend college and on populations who are underrepresented in the sciences.
Review of the applications will begin May 8, 2009 and continue until openings are filled.
Course tuition and materials are provided by a grant from the Martha Holding Jennings Foundation.
