- Philosophy and English major Ashley Trunko was accepted to the English graduate program at Kent State University.
- Philosophy major Natalija Plamadjala was accepted to graduate school at the University of Iowa.
- Psychology major Erica Kozma was accepted to the Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling program at Kent State University.
- Psychology major Kim Sabalausky was accepted to the Masters in School Psychology program at John Carroll University.
- Psychology major Amy Young was accepted to the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, and the Masters in Clinical Psychology at University of Indianapolis.
- Students in the Student Arts Organization for Peace and Justice, in collaboration with Campus Ministry and the Ursuline Social Justice Office, organized the Women Watch walk and vigil to help end violence against women, 9 Apr 08.
- The Senior Art Show opened in the Wasmer Gallery, 25 Apr 08, with students working with Sr. Diane Therese Pinchot in AR 442. Exhibitors are Sandy Unrein, Sam Eshelman, Kristi Gunn, Amy Hope, Sara Janezic, Allison Kee, Emily Kern, Catlin Kovacik, Shannon Meeks, Erica Dawoudi, and Megan Sugrue.
- Senior Art major Kristin Gandolf was offered a job teaching ceramics and metals for a nonprofit organization focusing on children with dyslexia and ADD in the Peggy Derrico Art Gallery in Chardon, where her work is currently on display.
- Senior Art major Katelynn Altgilbers and Elisha Dumser attended a lecture by Marjane Satrapi, author/artist/filmmaker of "Persepolis," 4 Apr 08, at CWRU.
- Art minor Jordan Pickwick is working for Lisa Ortie, who is starting her own company called “Expressions Handbags,” a soon-to-be national company that enables mothers who want to stay at home with their children to work flexible hours.
- Art alumna Beth Kappa is one of three artists designing new pole banners that will line Superior Ave from E18th St to E 25th St., and E30th St & E40th St to the north & south of Superior Ave. to re-brand the neighborhood as The Art Quarter.
- Seniors Ashley Trunko and Christopher Steffen presented at the English Department senior seminar, 18 Apr 08.
- The Psychology Department hosted the annual Mullen Psychology Convocation, 24 Apr 08,
where honors included:

- Senior math student Danielle Robinson was accepted into the graduate math program at Cleveland State University, where she plans to attend; she was also accepted for graduate work in the NEOUCOM Public Health Program.
- Eight students and their advisor in the Student Arts Organization for Peace and Justice collaborated with Saint Peter’s Parish and children, teachers and administrators at Marion Sterling School to paint three murals during the week of 3 Mar 08. Designs were created by Beth Mastroianni and Shannon Meeks with help from Cassidy Laudadio, Amy Banner, and Katelynn Altgilbers. Other student painters and collaborators include Stephanie Kasza, Dana Nunez, and Art and Education major Carol Garces.
- Sam Eshelman was featured in “Buzz Around,” an article in Northern Ohio Live (Mar 08), with a full-color photo of her work “Broken,” which is included in the current Women Watch/Student Watch Show.
- The Chagrin Valley Times (14 Mar 08) featured an interview with Samantha Eshelman and Shannon Meeks discussing their art, as well as the Women Watch/Student Watch show.
- Beth Mastroianni had a one-person show and installation at Brandt Gallery, 4 Mar to 11 Apr 08.
- Natalie Weaver presented with a panel of students on the topic of “Youth and Holy War” at Tri-C’s “Youth and Conflict” Conference with co-presenters Joann Piotrkowski (Campus Ministry) and students Kiva Bohanon, Penny Jordan, Stephanie McDuffie, and Michele Freyhauf, 28 Mar 08.
- Natalie Weaver is working with Religious Studies majors Michele Freyhauf, Stephanie McDuffie, and Kimberley Hardy on a collaborative “Work for More” internship to develop an interview template.
- Congratulations to the cast and crew of And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank, 14-15 Mar 08, including current students Ginnie Adams, Chris Steffan, Mary Ezerskis, Sheryl Kneier, Hanna Waffen, Molly Carroll, Mandie Oros, and Heather Heath, plus an alum.

- Jason Lewis, a Religious Studies and Master’s in Ministry alum, has been appointed Director of Bereavement and Older Adult Ministry for Catholic Charities Health and Human Services and for the Diocese of Cleveland as of 10 Mar 08.
- BFA student Dana Nunez, interning for the “Women Watch/Student Watch” exhibition, went with Diane Therese Pinchot to the Women’s Outreach Center on 20 Feb 08 to finalize work for the show.
- Under the 2008 “Work for More” grant for religious leadership, PR major Elizabeth Coletta is being mentored by Cynthia Glavac.
January 2008
- Religious Studies majors Kim Hardy, Stephanie McDuffie, and Michele Freyhoff have begun a collaborative internship under the direction of Natalie Weaver through the Work for More grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation. They will research women religious in the area and document their work on an internet blog.
- Fifteen music students participated in recital that demonstrated their progress in the study of voice and piano, 9 Dec 07.
- Students in the Student Arts Organization for Peace and Justice visited Marion Sterling School in CMSD to interview students, teachers, and administrators about the content of three murals they will be painting in their halls, 18 Dec 07.
- Art alumna Marcia Faller ‘06 was hired at the Cleveland School of the Arts to coordinate and teach in the ceramics department.
- BFA student Dana Nunez Dana Nunez is interning with Diane Therese Pinchot at the Women’s Outreach Shelter in Cleveland.

- Student Arts Organization for Peace and Justice president Shannon Meeks and treasurer Stacy Unrein, along with Diane Therese Pinchot and representatives of UC Campus Ministry and the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, participated in the annual demonstration to close the former School of the Americas at Fort Benning, GA, 16-19 Nov 07.
- Art major Katelynn Altigilbers is featured in this month’s Northern Ohio Live in a review of her one-woman show at the Studio of 5 Rings Gallery, 16 Nov 07 through 5 Jan 08.

- Linda Vimr, a double major in Marketing and Visual Communication Design, was chosen OCCS Intern of the Month for the work she performed at Rockwell Automation, Oct 07.
- Art Department students, faculty, and alums have been active in plans for the
annual demonstration to close the former School of the Americas at Fort Benning, GA:
- Students Ashley Messner and Stephanie Kasza collaborated with Enrique Avalos, in charge of the Jesuit Universities Teach-In there, in creating a program cover with a theme of “The Heart Mind and Soul of Solidarity,” 25 Oct 07.
- The banner representing Ursuline College and the Cleveland Ursuline Congregation was designed by Katelynn Marie Altgilbers and created by art alums and students, 20 Oct 07.
- Alum Marcia Faller created crosses for the demonstration, 30 Oct 07.
- Art student Beth Mastroianni participated in a “U Haul It” show that took place in Oberlin and is now traveling south.

- Danielle Robinson, double major in Biology and Mathematics, led the first meeting of the College’s new Math Club, 22 Oct 07. Thanks to Michelle Wiggins for directing this new student initiative.
- Pyschology major Michelle Glasmann introduced keynote speaker Hollie Strano at “Women in Science, Math, and Technology Day,” 2 Oct 07.

- Letters of congratulation were sent to 38 students on the Spring 2007 President’s List and 47 on the Dean's List in anticipation of the tea sponsored by Student Affairs, 10 Sept 07.
- The Student Arts Organization for Peace and Justice, in collaboration with the Ursuline Congregation's Social Justice Office and UC Campus Ministry, conducted a raku workshop with women from the Women's Outreach Center, 19 Sept 07. SAOPJ collaborated with Campus Ministry to organize a peace prayer on International Peace Day, 21 Sept 07.
- Graphic Design and Marketing double-major Linda Vimr is currently interning FT with Rockwell Automation; her supervisor indicates that Linda will be offered a job at graduation.
- Kristen Falkenberg, a student in PH 340 Animals and Ethics, visited Farm Sanctuary, Watkins Glen, NY. Nicole Lee, another student in the course, adopted a turkey at the Farm Sanctuary.
