The Ursuline College Chemistry Department invites rising high school sophomores and juniors to
participate in a unique and exciting opportunity exploring chemistry and chemistry related
fields this summer 2008. Summer Science Saturdays will be offered on
three successive weekends with activities on the Ursuline College campus with
Antech Diagnostic Lab (12 July), a trip to the
Chemistry Department at The Ohio State University
in Columbus (19 July), and a visit to The Lubrizol
Corporation in Lake county, OH (26 July).
As a program participant you will:
- Perform indoor and outdoor labs and hands-on activities.
- Tour local industries and labs and see first-hand how chemistry is involved in all these vital areas
- Learn about how college can prepare you for a career in chemistry and related fields
To apply for this special pre-college experience, fill out an application along with a short 250 word or less essay. A teacher recommendation is optional, but encouraged. Review of applications will begin on April 30 and continue until all openings are filled.
A $50 registration fee for the entire program covers all workshops, materials, and lunch each day. Scholarships are available. Some help with transportation is available on an individual basis.
