The Breen School of Nursing at Ursuline College and Fairview Hospital offers an accelerated degree program for second-degree students. The Accelerated BSN degree option is designed for student who hold a baccalaureate degree in another major and who are interested in pursuing a degree in nursing. The program includes all the courses of a fully approved and accredited traditional BSN program, but they are offered in a concentrated period of time. After successful completion of the program students receive a BSN degree and are eligible to sit for the RN licensing exam (NCLEX).

Accelerated Program Admission Process
Admission Requirements:- Acceptance to Ursuline College
- 2.5 GPA in first undergraduate degree
- 2.5 cumulative GPA in anatomy & physiology (2 semesters), chemistry (inorganic & organic/biochem), micro, and math
- A grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses (anatomy & physiology, microbiology, chemistry, math, nutrition, sociology, psychology, lifespan)
- Sciences are to be no older than five years; if older, must be retaken
- All prerequisite courses must be completed by December of the year preceding the start of nursing courses (e.g.: 12/08 for the 5/09 class)
Following acceptance to Ursuline College the student must then apply to The Breen School of Nursing Accelerated Program:
Application Process:- Complete application form for accelerated nursing program
- Complete a 1-2 page double-spaced essay which describes the following:
- Why you are selecting nursing as a second career?
- Employment history since completion of first degree
- Career goals as a professional nurse
- On-campus interview with Coordinator of Nursing Enrollment after submission of application and essay
- Up-To-Date resume
