What is Palliative Care?
Palliative Care is a philosophy of care that provides a combination of active and compassionate therapies intended to comfort and support patients and families who are living with life threatening illness, being sensitive and respectful of their religious, cultural and personal beliefs, values and traditions.
Required Courses
The mission statement of the MSN program is "Transforming the health of the community through reflection and healing interaction with individuals and organizations."
To that end, students in all tracks take the core of the master's courses to enhance understanding of theoretical concepts, research, technology, health care economics, and health policy.
They take the advanced practice core to gain appreciation and skill for direct patient care as an advanced practice nurse.
The curriculum includes a minimum of 600 practicum hours under the supervision of experienced advanced practice nurses.
