- A completed application and the $25.00 non-refundable application fee.
- An autobiographical statement included on the application describing the student’s previous education and work history, including volunteer experience. Applicants will explain their reasons for choosing art therapy and counseling, and will indicate their areas of special interest, career plans and goals.
- Official transcript(s) from the institution(s) which awarded the applicant's baccalaureate degree, and from any institution(s) where undergraduate and/or graduate course work was taken. A GPA of 3.0 or higher in undergraduate as well as graduate work.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation from appropriate professionals (Required recommendation form).
- An interview with the Director or a member of the faculty of the Art Therapy and Counseling Program. If you are living out of state, a telephone interview may be arranged.
- Portfolio presented at interview to include a minimum of 24 samples of art work representing a variety of media and techniques. These should be brought to the interview, or reviewed prior to starting the program. Candidates completing pre-requisite art courses may submit a partial portfolio for review, with follow-up work submitted after completing the art pre-requisites.
- A 3-5 page essay describing the meaning of art in your life, your areas of strength and those areas of art making that need further growth or exploration, and your motivation for wanting to work as a helping professional.
- Pre-Requisite coursework undergraduate coursework must be completed.
