Anchor Courses
- Students are expected to complete the 100-level, 300 level and 400-level anchor courses for the Ursuline Studies Program.
- Students who transfer in 64 semester credit hours or more, including 6 credits of recent English Composition, will be exempt from Transitions. Students who already hold baccalaureate degrees will be exempt from both Transitions and Introduction to Culture.
- Students who transfer in between 30 and 63 semester credit hours, including 6 credits of recent English Composition, may have 3 credits of Transitions waived, depending on evaluation by the instructor.
- Courses taken prior to students' matriculation at Ursuline College may not be used to fulfill Ursuline Studies anchor course requirements.
- Once students matriculate at Ursuline College they may not fulfill anchor course requirements elsewhere by substitution or equivalency.
- Neither CLEP exams, nor high school Advanced Placement courses, nor challenge exams, nor independent study activities, nor prior learning assessment may be used to fulfill anchor courses.
- Courses taken prior to students' matriculation at Ursuline College may be used to fulfill Ursuline Studies satellite course requirements.
- Once students matriculate at Ursuline College they may not take courses at other institutions with the intention of substitution them for Ursuline Studies satellite courses.
- Generally, Stage Three Satellite courses in Religious Studies and Philosophy must be taken at Ursuline College. Students who have passing grades or better for upper-level Religious Studies and Philosophy courses from colleges with missions similar to that of Ursuline may apply for an exception to this policy.
- Students may use a passing score on an approved CLEP exam for a satellite course in the Ursuline Studies Program.
- Students with high school Advanced Placement courses may use these courses either to fulfill Ursuline Studies satellite course requirements or for elective course credit.
- Neither independent study activities, nor prior learning assessment, nor catalog courses taken independently may be used to fulfill Ursuline Studies requirements.
