Ursuline College Adult Program (UCAP)

apply now request information

The Ursuline College Adult Program (UCAP) is an adult bachelor degree completion program for working men and women looking to complete their program in an accelerated format. In addition, UCAP offers certificate programs designed for adults who already hold a bachelor degree but wish to enhance their skill sets and employability.

The program offers accelerated course delivery with classes meeting one time per week. Students may choose from a variety of evening and Saturday classes that meet only once per week for 5, 7, 8 or 10-week sessions. Online and hybrid courses are also available. On average, students take one class every session, allowing them to complete 9 hours per semester and 27 credit hours per year while only attending school one day per week. Nine consecutive five-week sessions are offered every year, three in each semester.

UCAP classes are adult-oriented and taught in a discussion-driven environment, not the typical lecture/text format. Students are actively involved in the learning process and share education, work, and life experiences; participate in group projects; give presentations; work within team structures; and complete individual assignments. Students utilize leadership skills and apply the concepts that are learned each week through the various methods. Students spend an average of 15 hours on out-of-class work per course each week.

Facilitators (UCAP's term for faculty members) are academically qualified and include both full-time college faculty and practicing professionals. In both cases, the facilitators are chosen because of their exceptional teaching abilities with adult learners. Students in UCAP will find facilitators who provide a rich blend of academic background with practical, professional experience.

Successful students in UCAP have at least three years of professional work experience and have completed at least 30 transferable semester hours of credit. The program emphasizes writing skills and UCAP assists students in developing their writing abilities.
