What Made Your Ursuline Education Unique to Your Career?
The Ursuline program provided me with an opportunity to discover myself as an educator,
administrator and person. I certainly obtained the necessary content knowledge in the relevant
areas to be successful as an administrator, but the program has instilled in me much more than
those basic fundamentals. The pillars of the program are systematically weaved throughout all
course work and along with so many other relevant issues, the program has taught me the
importance of building relationships and rapport with students and staff. It stressed the
importance of visibility and building consensus with all stakeholders, two areas that I have
successfully merged with my present position. The personal and professional impact of this
entire program has been profound. The program surrounded me with supportive peers and provided
me with life long mentors that have assisted me throughout my career. The educational
administration program at Ursuline does not simply end with administrative certification; it
provides a life long support structure for continued growth.
How Has Ursuline Shaped Your Life?
One of the key components of the Ursuline program is the value placed on people and community.
The program modeled a caring and nurturing professional environment which had a profound
influence on me. The lessons moved beyond education and developed me as a human being which is
a very unique feature in such a program. The introduction to Stephen Covey’s work on the7
Habits obviously made me a better administrator but also a better father. This program is life
changing in many ways. I feel honored that I will soon be joining the educational
administration staff as an adjunct professor and look forward to giving back to the program
that gave so very much to me.
