Ursuline hits skids after losing pitcher Ashley Hykes to an injury. The Arrows tried to
compensate for the season ending injury to pitcher Ashley Hykes in yesterday’s conference
doubleheader but to no avail. The Arrows dug a huge hole in the first two innings as Malone
made a strong showing on eight hits and three errors. Ursuline sophomore Hillary Beachy had two hits, one being a solo homerun. Amy Difiore also had two hits and two RBIs. Ronk went three for four for Malone with a double, a triple and three RBIs. The final score was 15-4. Locker was
the winner and Rajcan took the loss.
Malone
Malone holds on to win 8-5. Malone again got out to a fast start, scoring two runs in the first inning and three in the second. Ursuline fought back and collected two runs in the second off
of Amanda Escano’s RBI single. Malone scored again in the sixth when Leslie McCammon got on by
a mishandled ball and was brought in by Ott’s homerun. In the seventh, Ronk hit a double and
was brought in on an outfield error. The Arrows then rallied in the bottom of the seventh when
Amy Difiore got an RBI single, Meredith Croce sacrificed in a run and Danielle Colbath hit a 2
run double to right field. The bases were then loaded when Kendra Hall drew a walk with two
outs. The rally ended with a catch in shallow right field by McCammon. “We tried to compensate
today for the loss of Ashley Hykes on our pitching staff and it just didn’t work. It was worth
the try but we’re going to get back to our game and let the chips fall where they may. We
regressed today but I’m confident we’ll get it back together and continue to try to move
forward,” stated Coach Woodford. Ralston got the win, Gilreath got the loss.
