Notre Dame
Stephanie Rajcan and Amy DiFiore are key in 2-1 victory against Notre Dame. Amy Difiore’s solo
homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning put UC up 2-1 in a thriller today at Arrows field.
The Arrows started the game with three hits in the first inning with singles by Beachy and
Difiore before Danielle Bandza hit a RBI single to plate Beachy. Notre Dame responded in the
third inning as Wolfe led off with a single and NAIA National Player of the Week, Anna Ball,
hit a RBI double to left center field to score Wolfe. Both teams fell silent until DiFiore’s
homerun which was followed by a strong attempt at a comeback by Notre Dame in the seventh.
Holub led off with a walk and was followed by two putouts. Anna Ball was then intentionally
walked and Volk hit a single loading the bases. Simmons took the count to 3-2 before Rajcan
took command and sat her for the third out and the game. “We knew Ball was the go ahead run
when we put her on but it was a chance we had to take. Volk certainly made things interesting
with her single and put a bit of pressure on Rajcan but Rajcan was not to be denied today. She
wanted this game and with her second strike out of the day, secured the win herself. She showed a lot of grit in that seventh inning. I saw perseverance and courage and I loved it!” stated
Coach Woodford. Rajcan earned the win, Harbarger took the loss.
Notre Dame
Hits not enough to earn victory. The Arrows belted out nine hits in game two today but only
brought in two runs while the Falcons scored seven on six hits, four errors and five walks.
Notre Dame had three doubles and a homerun scoring three in the second, three in the fourth and one in the sixth. Tartaglione hit the homerun. The Arrows only mustered two runs in the sixth
as Hillary Beachy and Amy DiFiore hit singles, followed by a mishandled ball hit by Danielle
Bandza to score two. Kelly Gilreath went two for three including a double in the loss.
Lapczenski got the win, Gilreath got the loss.
