Lorain
The Arrows take charge in fourth inning today and win 12-3. After two innings without “noise”
Lorain got on the scoreboard on an error and two hits to plate two before Ursuline erupted and
went on a hitting spree in the top of the fourth and sixth innings. Amy Difiore and Stephanie
Rajcan both hit singles and were knocked in by Danielle Colbath’s 2 RBI double. Kendra Hall
then got on with a walk and was sacrificed over by Amanda Escano. Sara Ilko topped off the
inning when she slugged a 2 RBI homerun. Lorain answered back in the top of the fifth with a
run of their own when Mole hit a single and Horvath advanced her to home on an error. Ursuline
put the game away in the top of the sixth inning when, with one out, the Arrows hit five
singles including a spectacular slap by Liz Shoda that scored three runners. Sara Ilko also hit a double in the inning along with Danielle Colbath’s RBI triple to centerfield. Rajcan got the
win, Biel got the loss.
Lorain
Kelly Gilreath pitched a shut out today as Ursuline College beat Lorain 8-0 in the second game
of a double header. Just like the first game, there wasn’t much “noise” on the field until the
fifth inning when the Arrows pounded out seven hits for seven runs to put the game away early.
Gilreath led the inning off with a single to left field and was followed by Kendra Hall who
reached on a fielders’ choice. Amanda Escano also reached on a mishandled sacrifice. Bases
where then loaded when Sara Ilko got on with a single. Hillary Beachy stepped up to the plate
and hit a 2 RBI single to centerfield. Meredith Croce followed with a hard RBI single to left
center and was followed by Amy Difiore’s 2 RBI double. Liz Shoda then hit a bunt single and
stole second base putting her in scoring position. Danielle Colbath was up to the task and
slammed a 2 RBI double plating Difiore and Shoda before the seven run inning and game ended.
Gilreath took the win, Bankston got the loss.
