Point Park
Ursuline slams Point Park 12-3 in five innings. Ursuline pounded out five doubles and four
singles in the second inning of today’s double header at Arrows field. Danielle Colbath led off with a single to centerfield and was sacrificed to second by Kelly Gilreath. Kendra Hall
followed with a walk and then was sacrificed by Amanda Escano putting runners at second and
third with two outs. Lefty Sara Ilko then came to the plate and belted a 2 RBI double which was mimicked by Hillary Beachy as she plated Ilko. Meredith Croce followed in the three spot and
hit a hard single to left field scoring Beachy. Clean up hitter, Amy Difiore kept the momentum
going with another double to left field. The Arrows continued the hitting streak as Liz Shoda
smacked a double to left center scoring Difiore. Danielle Colbath, who led off the inning with
a single, hit deep again for an RBI double to center field. The inning finally ended on a
ground out in the infield. Point Park attempted a comeback but would only manage three runs
scoring one in the second off of Marsili’s RBI triple to centerfield and then again in the
third inning after an error in right field which was followed by a double by Pesanka and a
single by Merks. Ursuline continued to hit the ball hard though, as Croce, Beachy and Difiore
each hit more doubles and Difiore, Colbath and Hall each hit additional singles adding five
more runs to the score. “I guess you could say we’ve been hitting pretty well lately! We told
our athletes last week that we’ve really only been one to two hits away from winning many of
our games this season. We’ve had runners at second and third a number of times but the
difference has been that we’ve left them out there. We just needed that extra hit or two. These past couple of games they haven’t been leaving people on the bases, they’ve been delivering in
a big way,” commented Coach Woodford. Gilreath took the win, Stumme took the loss.
