Alumnae Blog - 2012 UC Volunteer Day
October 06, 2012
Greetings!
I woke up this morning at 5:00 AM to begin the 2nd annual Ursuline College Volunteer Day. I arrived to campus just after 6:00 AM and was soon joined by all the eager volunteers. Over 130 volunteers joined the efforts today to help local charities; Cleveland FoodBank, MedWish, Habitat for Humanity~Geauga County, Rescue Village~Geauga Humane Society, St. Angela Center~Ursuline Motherhouse and Hospice of the Western Reserve.
This year, I made a point of stop at one of the locations to see what the day was about, since I am unable to do the actual volunteering (the event planner rarely gets to participate). I visited Rescue Village where volunteers were re-mulching the dog trails, organizing storage units, visiting cats in the Cool Cat Cafe as well as making dog toys out of fleece. I really enjoy seeing all the students, alumnae, faculty, staff, Board of Trustee members and friends of the College mingling together for the same purpose: TO HELP! The Volunteer Day truly embodies what Ursuline's mission is all about.
I can only hope Ursuline College Volunteer Day continues to grow each year. If you are interested in joining next year's event, be sure to check out

Thanks for a wonderful and meaningful day!
