Dancing Arrows

Welcome! My name is Emily Smith, and I'm the Dancing Arrows Advisor. I'm so excited that you are interested in joining the Dancing Arrows!

Dancing Arrows is a voluntary organization open to any interested Ursuline student. The purpose of this organization is to create the opportunity for members to become involved through teamwork and collaboration at campus events. The Dancing Arrows practice weekly and perform at specific events. Generally, these include home sporting events and select campus events. While all skill levels are welcome, dedication and a positive attitude are required.

Our dance season typically revolves around Ursuline’s basketball season (November-March), with pre-season practices beginning in October. While in season, practices typically are held once or twice a week for about 2-3 hours, depending on upcoming performances and everyone’s schedules. The Dancing Arrows performs at all home basketball games during half-time and other campus events. Each year, our number of performances varies but will not exceed 10 performances. Click here to see some of our previous performances!

During try-outs, you will learn what it means to be a Dancing Arrow, meet the current team, learn a short routine, and practice basic dance skills. Following the clinic time, official tryouts will begin. You will be asked to perform specific dance skills (turns, leaps, etc., all covered during the clinic time) and the routine you learned. This routine will help showcase your ability to learn a routine, basic dance skills and technique, showmanship, and personality. All tryouts will be done in pairs (two candidates at a time) and are closed to the public.
Typically we are looking to fill about 10-12 positions and previous members are required to tryout every year.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know! I can be reached via email at esmith2@ursuline.edu or by phone at 440.684.6107.

Once again, thank you for your interest and I look forward to meeting you soon!
