"Dare to Dream …Where Do We Go from Here" Program at Ursuline College, Tuesday, January 19 in Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Danita Harris, evening news anchor on NewsChannel 5, will present "Dare to Dream…Where do we go from here" at Ursuline College's Martin Luther King celebration Tues., Jan. 19, 2-4pm, Fritzsche Center, 2550 Lander Road, Pepper Pike. The event is free and open to the public.
The “Dare to Dream” program will revisit Dr. King’s vision of living in a Post Racial America. “We realize a symbolic change has taken place with the election of Barack Obama but the question still remains ‘has there been a fundamental structural change in America?’” said Tina Roan Lining, Ursuline’s director of multicultural affairs. “Danita’s testimony and experience as a young aspiring journalist striving for success, is amazing, overcoming internal and external challenges will be inspirational,” said Lining.
Harris received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland in College Park. She has been an anchor at NewsChannel 5 since September 2000. A strong believer in community service, Harris volunteers as a board advisor to the Girls Club of Ohio. Harris has served as a guest host on ABC’s “The View,” and has interviewed television talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
