The New Masters: Women Artists of Northeast Ohio

February 16, 2018
Location: Ursuline College

As students of art history know, the "Old Masters" were the European painters regarded as the best artists before about 1800. And theypicture of people in gallery were, for the most part, men.

Ursuline College's Florence O'Donnell Wasmer Gallery turned that concept on its head this winter by inviting women artists of Northeast Ohio to submit artworks for a juried exhibition. More than 100 residents responded to the call. The result, The New Masters: Women Artists of Northeast Ohio, opens with a reception and awards ceremony on Friday, February 16, 5-8pm.

Join us for this engaging exhibition and help celebrate the creativity, skill and vision of women artists in our midst. At the Feb. 16 opening, enjoy entertainment, catered refreshments and the excitement of the cash prize award announcements. The gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 12 noon to 5pm on Tuesdays through Fridays; 1:30 to 4:30 on Saturdays and Sundays; closed Mondays and holidays. Ursuline College is at 2550 Lander Road in Pepper Pike, Ohio. Click here for a campus map. The exhibition closes on March 23,2018.

Jurors are Nikki Woods, director of the Reinberger Gallery at Cleveland Institute of Art; Mary Gray, Director of Riffe Gallery, Ohio Arts Council; and Alenka Banco, executive director, Cleveland Arts Prize.
