Ursuline College Launches Center of Excellence

Ursuline College is pleased to announce the development of a new Center of Excellence in Ethical and Entrepreneurial Leadership for Global Competence. The Center of Excellence is an extension of several leadership activities at Ursuline that are associated with the Evening MBA Program and with the Executive MBA Program. The Center is located in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.

The Center of Excellence is being created to meet the interest from students, graduates and the wider community in starting up and/or growing a business organization. The Center’s conferences, events and activities will be themed around entrepreneurship, leadership, market innovation, economic and social issues, technological advancements in business, globalization and women business leaders. Ursuline’s President, Sr. Diana Stano, stated that “hearing from our expert speakers, students and members of the Northeast Ohio community will get a chance to share their own experiences and network with entrepreneurial business leaders and their supporters”.

Wells Fargo Advisors will serve as the lead business sponsor in collaborating with Ursuline to conduct a series of conferences and luncheon events that focus on entrepreneurship, leadership, and women business leaders. This collaboration initiative with Wells Fargo Advisors will include three upcoming leadership events conducted by the Center of Excellence. The first luncheon event will be held at Landerhaven (Mayfield Heights, OH) on Saturday December 15, 2012, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This event will include several professional guest speakers that will focus on topics related to entrepreneurship and women business leaders.

Dr. Debra L. Fleming, Executive Director of Business Programs and Director of the MBA Programs is working with other MBA business professors at Ursuline on the development of the Center’s activities. Rita Singh, Ursuline’s adjunct MBA faculty member, will serve as the Coordinator of the Center. Fleming and Singh emphasized that “by combining all of the MBA professors’ extensive business networks with Ursuline’s academic research base, we aim to increase awareness of the challenges facing entrepreneurial leaders and strive to address these by bringing together networks and resources so business leaders can receive the support they need to grow their businesses or to enhance their careers.”

The Center of Excellence at Ursuline will provide benefits to its sponsors and opportunities for business leaders, especially women business leaders, to benefit from the lessons learned by experienced entrepreneurial leaders through mentoring, networking opportunities and a conference/seminar series of events. The Center’s online resources will also offer business leaders and their supporters a variety of resources, including a collaborative signpost system to Ursuline’s sponsors and an opportunity for business leaders to showcase their success stories to inspire the next generation of ethical and entrepreneurial business leaders in Northeast Ohio.

For more information about the Center or to register for the business luncheon event on December 15, please contact the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at 440 646 8120 (dfleming@ursuline.edu or rsingh@ursuline.edu). Individuals can also learn more at ursuline.edu/centerofexcellence.
