Ursuline Nursing Symposium to Focus on Technology as Learning Tool

June 13, 2018

The Breen School of Nursing at Ursuline College will host a daylong symposium on engaging nursing students through educational technology and interactive learning on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at Embassy Suites, 3775 Park East Drive in Beachwood, Ohio.

Keynote speaker Jone Tiffany, DNP, RN, CNE, CHSE, ANEF, will deliver a presentation titled, “Using Technology to Enhance Student Engagement and Clinical Reasoning.”

Dr. Tiffany is a Professor of Nursing at Bethel University and the NLN Technology Scholar in Residence. She has presented nationwide on a wide variety of topics relevant to enhancing the educator’s toolkit, especially with the use of technology. Following Dr. Tiffany’s talk, breakout sessions will explore the science of learning as well as a variety of interactive teaching and learning strategies.

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, participants will leave with the knowledge to apply at least one new technology skill to their work setting; discuss ways that educational technology can support instruction and student learning; and demonstrate leadership by modeling the use of educational technology.

The symposium includes continental breakfast and buffet lunch. Attendance at 80% of the program and completion of an evaluation are required to receive the 5.1 nursing contact hours offered. The cost is $75 and registration is required. A link to the registration form is available at ursuline.edu/events/Strawbridge18. For more information, contact Interim Associate Dean Kimberly Dillon-Bleich, MSN, RN, at 440-646-8174 or kdillon@ursuline.edu.

The annual Strawbridge Symposium is named in memory of the late Herbert E. Strawbridge, a longtime supporter and former member of the board of trustees of Ursuline College.

There is no conflict of interest for the planners or the presenters. There is no commercial support for this program. Ursuline College Breen School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurse’s Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
