Education Graduate Student Recognized by Mayfield Schools

May 21, 2013

Education Administration graduate student Brian Stephens was honored on May 16, 2013, at Mayfield High School’s annual Excellence Reception.  Mr. Stephens has taught science and coached football, track and wrestling in his 21-year career in the Mayfield City School district.

He was honored by 3 students at the 2013 reception:  Juanita Vivaros; Mary Lee, who will be attending Miami University in the fall majoring in Biology and French; and Maia Young, who will be heading to Case Western Reserve University to study computer science.

Mr. Stephens, who has his Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from Union College (Kentucky) and his Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State, plans to complete his certificate in Education Administration at Ursuline College in the spring of 2014 or 2015 so that he may consider a position as a principal in the future.

According to Laurie Uhlir, Director of Community Relations for Mayfield City Schools, the Excellence Reception,  “is an event that sets Mayfield apart as a special place to work and learn. The reception is an opportunity for the Top 40 students from the graduating class to thank three teachers who have helped and inspired them through their school years."
