Sandra McGrath wins the Avery Friedman Human Rights Scholarship Award.

Ursuline College presents the second annual Avery Friedman Human Rights Scholarship Award.

August, 2015 – Pepper Pike, OH – Ursuline College proudly to announces the second annual awarding of the Avery Friedman Human Rights Scholarship Award to Sandra McGrath of Garfield Heights, OH. 

The Avery Friedman Human Rights Scholarship Award is given to an Ursuline College Adult Program (UCAP) student currently in the Legal Studies Program who has shown a commitment to a career in human rights and/or has demonstrated commitment to furthering human rights of those affected in their chosen field.

A resident of Garfield Heights, OH, McGrath is a retired US Air Force servicewoman. In addition to her time in the military, McGrath has worked as a paralegal and as an LPN in the Cleveland Clinic Health System. According to her application, McGrath’s career goals include using her paralegal and LPN experience to continue working at the Cleveland Clinic in the Legal Department or as an ombudsman. 

“The scholarship committee chose McGrath unanimously as the award winner. She was chosen for her commitment to education as a human right as well as her belief that compassion and dignity are basic human rights, and her devotion to demonstrating that belief in her career as a nurse,” said Anne Murphy Brown, director of Ursuline’s Legal Studies Program.
