Cross Country Runner Named G-MAC 'Freshman of the Year'

October 29, 2013

Ursuline College cross country runner Michelle Klim (Poland, Ohio/Seminary High School) was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) ‘Freshman of the Year’ on Saturday (Oct. 26) after placing third overall at the G-MAC Championships. The race featured 68 student-athletes from around the conference.

Both of the runners who finished ahead of Klim at the conference meet were sophomores. Klim was Ursuline’s first finisher and helped the team take third in the nine-team field.

Earlier this season, Klim was named the conference’s Athlete of the Week after she won the Lorain County Community College Commodore Invitational on Sep. 20 while helping the Arrows win their first race in program history.

She started her collegiate career by placing sixth of 61 participants at the Davis & Elkins College Forest Festival Invitational on Sep. 7 and followed that up by taking fifth of 123 runners at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational the following week.

At the beginning of October, Klim placed sixth in the Division II/NAIA category at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.

She and her teammates are now training for the NCAA Regional Championship which is being held on Nov. 9 in Kenosha, Wisc.
