Ursuline College is proud to announce that the Cleveland Region (III) of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers named an Ursuline student, Susan Postle, the recipient of the 2013 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Student of the Year Award. Postle, a Strongsville resident, is currently a senior social work major.
Postle is the 11th Ursuline student since 1998 to receive this honor.
“Susan is passionate about social work and is an advocate for others at Beech Brook Lorain Community Office and in the community,” said Ursuline Professor and Co-Director of Social Work Sharon Wilson, MSSA, LISW-S.
“Postle demonstrates leadership and contributes to building a positive image for the profession not only on campus, but in the community.”
Postle earns a 4.0 GPA and is very involved in the College’s student Social Work Organization (SWO). She served as Vice-President of the group for the 2011-2012 academic year, during which time she organized a school supply drive for children at a foster care organization. Postle also initiated a Christmas party at the Carey West Apartments, a Housing and Urban Development funded complex.
Providing community psychiatric support treatment services for youth and adolescent clients and families is her passion.
“I am committed to helping young people who are struggling with family issues. My strengths are motivating and empowering young people to build healthy independent lives,” Postle said about her field placement at the Beech Brook Lorain Community Office.
