The 2007 Tribute to Excellence Nomination Form PDF
The Office of Multicultural Affairs concluded a great year of service to the College community with a closing luncheon called the Tribute to Excellence: Celebrating Diversity (T2E). The luncheon, a first at Ursuline College, was held on Saturday, April 29th at Daley Dining Hall. Students, faculty and staff were recognized for outstanding achievement and for supporting the rich ethnic diversity within the Ursuline student body.

T2E, as nicknamed by students, was a participative activity. Weeks before the luncheon, Ursuline students nominated their favorite individuals and groups to be recognized. The voting process would follow and, over five days, some 1,600 votes were cast and the winners were chosen. It is interesting to note that the number of votes exceeds the current College enrollment. This is due to "extreme voting", which students requested, whereby they were permitted to vote as often as they cared to.
For the luncheon, nearly 150 people were on hand to celebrate and acknowledge the 2006 3.0 Club, students of color who earned 3.0 or better grade point averages; and to congratulate the students' choices for favorite staff, faculty and programs. Among the acknowledgements were the following highlights:
- Mary Alice Saunders, Associate Professor of Nursing, recognized as the employee of color with the longest tenure (27 years).
- Dr. Olga Lombardi, Professor of Modern Languages, recognized as the Student's Choice for Favorite Faculty Member.
- Campus Ministry, Joann Piotrkowski, recognized as the Students' Choice for Favorite Department.
- Golden Dickerson, Maintenance Department, recognized as the Students' Choice for Favorite Employee.
- The Tunnel of Oppression exhibit in February, recognized as the Students' Choice for Favorite Diversity Awareness Program.
The Tribute to Excellence is a standout among the events offered by the Office of Multicultural Affairs because it promotes the value of the campus's rich diversity and acknowledges those individuals who make a special effort to embrace our students and build community.
