Resident Assistant
Paid Position
The Resident Assistant, or RA, is a fellow student who has been selected and trained to assist in maintaining a living environment that is fair to all and conducive to studying.
The RA is expected to know the residents, be familiar with College policies, and be available when needed.
The RA serves as a facilitator of community development through programming and building relationships with other residents.
RAs who build positive relationships with their residents help others through counseling, leadership, and role modeling.
RAs are required to be visible and available during their scheduled duty night and other non-scheduled times.
Food Service Committee
Volunteer Position
All residents are welcome to join the food service committee.
The primary focus of this committee is to address any issues or concerns that students have with the food service.
Meetings are held each semester between this committee and food service management.
Residence Hall Council
Volunteer Position
All residents are members of Residence Hall Council (RHC).
RHC is the residence hall programming and policy board which serves to assist the Residence Life staff in building community among the residents.
RHC primarily plans social programs such as Cosmic Bowling, Haunted Ursuline and Little Sibs Weekend.
The RHC president will be elected by the residents each year and will serve as a voting member of Student Government Association (SGA).
Additional leadership positions include: Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicist.
These positions are elected in April.
Peer Mediation Team
Volunteer Position
The function of the Peer Mediation team is to provide conflict management and mediation support to residents.
Peer Mediators are trained in conflict mediation and conduct mediations related to roommate conflict, floor conflict, and more.
Peer Mediators are selected each Spring and trained prior to the start of Fall semester.
Peer Judicial Board
Volunteer Position
The Peer Judicial Board helps in governance of the halls.
When violations of policies and procedures occur, the board is convened to arbitrate the situation.
Through getting students involved in the judicial process, residents are able to maintain a high level of community.
A nine member board is selected on a per case basis by randomly selecting students not involved in the judicial situation.
The Director of Residence Life oversees the board.
