Welcome to UCAP Academic Advising. Academic advising is a collaborative venture between a student and an advisor. The purpose of this partnership is to assist the student in the attainment of meaningful educational goals that are consistent with their personal interests, values and goals.
The advising process is student-centered and results in the student gaining a clear understanding of the requirements of their specific degree. Discussion will focus on options for fulfillment of Ursuline Studies core requirements (front of degree plan) as well as major requirements (back of degree plan). Each semester, a student should plan to meet with an advisor to plan the next semester classes. An advisor will help a student choose classes that are required for their course of study from the three five-week session schedules. Prerequisites and courses that are offered infrequently factor into these discussions.
Academic advising can be accomplished in several ways; in-person meeting, email or phone call. Advisors will strive to accommodate the student’s schedule for advising appointments.
